Seán Rynne (1928-2008)

Seán Rynne, of Cahersherkin, Ennistymon, was a well-regarded fiddle and whistle player, and a proud link in a long line of musicians in the Rynne family of North Clare. The son of Seán Rynne (1880–1979), who famously hosted house dances in the family’s traditional flag-floored cottage, Seán grew up in a household where music was central to life.

He passed on his love of music to his daughter, Anne Rynne, a fiddle player with the renowned Kilfenora Céilí Band, and to his grandchildren, Daniel Considine (concertina) and Seán Considine (drums/bodhrán), who also play traditional music and live near Ennistymon along with another of his grandsons, Darragh Cuddihy (flute / drums).

Seán Rynne passed away on 3 May 2008.
