Tomás Rynne (1920-2012)
Tomás Rynne, born in 1920 in Cahersherkin, was a much-loved traditional musician known for his playing on both the tin whistle and concert flute. A member of the renowned Rynne family, Tomás contributed quietly and consistently to the musical life of North Clare across much of the 20th century.
He was a great friend of Paddy ‘Mullins’ Organ, and the two shared not only a deep love for music but also many evenings travelling together — often cycling with Paddy ‘Mullins’ Organ to house dances throughout the region. These informal gatherings were central to the cultural fabric of the time, and Tomás’s music helped create the lively, social atmosphere that defined them.
Tomás lived a long life and passed away in December 2012, at the age of 92.
