Paddy Tierney (1920-1981)

Paddy Tierney, born in 1920 in Lickeen, Kilfenora, was a talented fiddle player who carried forward the rich musical tradition of his family and locality. He was the nephew of Martin Tierney, a respected fiddle player from Lickeen, and grew up immersed in the sounds and styles of North Clare music.

Coming from a family noted not only for their musical ability but also for their deep knowledge of the Kilfenora music tradition, Paddy maintained and preserved these tunes and techniques throughout his life.
