Mícheál Mulqueeney (1904-1978)

Mícheál Mulqueeney was born in 1904 in Tullagha, near Kilfenora, Co. Clare. A brother of the well-known fiddler Jim Mulqueeney, Mícheál played both the flute and the tin whistle and his other brother Tom Mulqueeney also played the flute.

He worked as a teacher at the Monastery School in Ennistymon, where he was respected for his calm approach and dedication to his students. Mícheál later moved from Tullagha to Kilfenora village, where he continued to be a quiet supporter of the local musical tradition.
