Danny lahiff (1911-1994)

Danny Lahiff was a traditional flute player from Kylemore, an area well known for its rich musical heritage and home to many musicians, including the Jack John Tom McMahon family. Part of this vibrant local tradition, Danny played an important role in keeping the music alive in his community through sessions, local gatherings, and house dances.

He lived in Dublin for years and was a regular visitor to my paternal grandfather John Kelly Seniors shop ‘The Horse Shoe’ on Capel Street. When he retired he moved back to live in Kilfenora village with his Dublin born wife.
